Gathering Outdoors Beginning June 7
The elders, deacons, and staff have been in conversation about taking a preliminary step in reopening Grace Community Church. On June 7, we will begin gathering outdoors on Sundays at 9:00 a.m. If rain is expected on a Sunday morning, we will switch to live streaming only for that Sunday and the livestream will occur at the same time as the scheduled in-person service (9:00 a.m.) If live-streaming only due to weather, the changes will be communicated by noon on Saturday through Faithlife, Facebook, and the church website.
Each family should bring their own lawn chairs, and bug spray might be a good idea too. If you have extra lawn chairs, please consider bringing them to share with others who might not have them to bring. The lawn has been treated for fire ants, but you’ll still want to keep an eye out. Social distancing will need to be maintained. In an effort to help everyone follow Governor Cooper's order given on June 24th, please wear a mask until seated unless you have a medical reason not to.
Please be in prayer as Grace Community Church makes this preliminary step in reopening. Pray for the logistical issues to be handled well, the safety of our body, and the witness of Christians during these perilous times.
Jim McLaughlin has encouraged us to memorize these words from the Apostle Paul as we all enter into a “new normal” because of COVID-19:
Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interest of others. (Phil. 2:3-4)
This should be our mantra as we try to:
Do all things without grumbling or questioning, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world. (Phil. 2:14-15)
